Outlining for People Who Don't Like Outlining

Woohoo! Let's talk about outlining!

Hey friends! People who know me now would never believe that I used to be a hardcore pantser. I thought planning or plotting or outlining took all the fun out of writing, and I swore I would never do it!

I also couldn’t finish a story to save my life. I’d get into the middle and be like, “I don’t know what to do, and I’m bored, so I’m going to start a new story.” I had dozens of half-written books that fizzled out in the second act.

THEN I discovered some videos by Dan Wells on YouTube, detailing something called the 7 Point Plot method, and it sounded… okay. I decided to give it a try, and I’m so glad I did! I now do this with every story I write, and it gives me just enough of a structure to not get lost, but it’s not so rigid that I feel constrained.
